This branch supplies and fits tyres, brakes, exhausts, batteries, has a computerised four wheel alignment machine that provides the customer with a before and after print out. We also do MOTs, servicing and mechanical repairs.

Helston is also our Head Office and training centre.

MOT Testing station

TyreFinders are now an approved MOT testing station, testing class 4 vehicles at our Helston branch. We have invested heavily into setting up our MOT testing station, using the very latest testing equipment to ensure the highest levels of professionalism and service that our customers have come to expect from us.

An MOT test is an annual inspection that is required by law on all vehicles in the UK that are older than 3 years (and in some cases on vehicles older than 1 year)

The DVSA set a strict criteria which the test follows to determine whether your car is safe and roadworthy when it is presented for testing.

A broad range of vehicle safety checks must be completed by an MOT test centre with DVSA-approved examiners, including lights, tyres, seatbelts and emissions.

During the MOT test, the nominated tester, who will be an experienced vehicle technician that has been approved by the DVSA to conduct MOT tests, will carry out a comprehensive inspection of the vehicle to ensure the vehicle is in roadworthy condition. However, it is not the same as having your vehicle serviced (#MAYBE INSERT LINK TO SERVICING AREA OF WEBSITE HERE#)and the MOT test does not check the general mechanical condition of the vehicle. Also, the assessment is based on the condition of the vehicle on the day that it is presented for testing – passing an MOT does not guarantee the condition of the tyres 6 months later, for example.

If the vehicle passes, the nominated tester will provide you with a pass certificate. They will also separately list and inform you of any ‘minor’ (these were formerly called ‘advisory’) items that will require attention in the near future so you can keep an eye on them and address them when necessary.

If the vehicle fails, you will receive a list of the ‘major’ or ‘dangerous’ faults present. If these are easy fixes and can be addressed without your car leaving the garage, you may be entitled to a free re-test.
